Position Summary:

The Director of Operations & Events/Associate Director is responsible for the overall management of events and facility operations at First National Bank Arena (FNB Arena). This position provides leadership and direction to event managers, front-line managers, and part-time staff to ensure the successful execution of events. The DO/AD works closely with event promoters, University officials, and internal departments to provide a seamless experience for clients, guests, and stakeholders. Additionally, this role oversees the Events Department and Operations Department while assisting the Director of Finance with financial settlements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee a variety of facility events, including concerts, sporting events, and trade shows.

  • Direct and supervise event managers, production staff, and conversion teams to ensure efficient event execution.

  • Advance all technical and logistical details for major events, working with promoters and production teams.

  • Provide oversight of facility operations, including maintenance, housekeeping, and conversions, ensuring all building components are in working order.

  • Manage the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of event and operations personnel.

  • Develop and administer the operations and event budgets, monitoring expenses and authorizing expenditures.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and crowd management protocols, making immediate decisions in emergency situations.

  • Work with the Director and Director of Finance in developing and monitoring the annual operating budget and financial forecasts.

  • Supervise conversion teams to ensure proper event setups and changeovers are completed efficiently.

  • Oversee contracted services, maintaining high facility standards.

  • Utilize event management software (AutoCAD) for event planning, and facility mapping.

  • Attend and supervise events, serving in a manager-on-duty role on a rotating basis.

  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, patrons, and internal staff, ensuring an elevated level of customer service.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Strong knowledge of venue operations, event planning, and production logistics.

· Experience with advancing shows, technical riders, and industry best practices.

· Financial management skills, including budget development and event settlement processes.

· Understanding of crowd control, safety regulations, and emergency response protocols.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, event management software, and AutoCAD.

· Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize conflicting responsibilities effectively.

· Experience in staff training, supervision, and performance evaluation.

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

· Strong customer service orientation and professional demeanor.

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Additional hours as required, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on event schedule.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule with regular and reliable attendance.

Working Conditions:

· Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping.

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Bachelor's degree is required (or equivalent experience in venue management, event operations, or related field).

Two (2) years of experience in a multipurpose live entertainment and sports venue preferred.

Experience with CAD drawing creation and production setup preferred.

Certification or ability to obtain certification in forklift.

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and operate equipment requiring dexterity.
