Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking up to four motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistants to join our dynamic team in our Post-Baccalaureate Program in the Life Sciences research laboratories on the John D. MacArthur campus in Jupiter FL.

The Jupiter campus has become a magnet for top researchers and students nationally and is home to four Research Institutes and the Wilkes Honors College. These positions provide an excellent opportunity for recent graduates in biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, or related fields to gain hands-on research experience, develop technical skills, and contribute to impactful projects alongside leading researchers. Trainees in the Program will engage in regular enrichment activities aimed at enhancing their opportunities for employment in industry/academia or submitting competitive applications for graduate study.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experimental research under the guidance of faculty and senior researchers, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

  • Participate in the design and execution of laboratory studies, with a focus on cellular and neural circuit mechanisms of complex behavior, animal models of neurological diseases and disorders, molecular biology, environmental and genetic determinants of behaviors in model organisms, and development of disease intervention strategies.

  • Manage and maintain laboratory equipment, ensure adherence to lab safety protocols, and contribute to lab organization.

  • Assist in preparing research reports, publications, and presentations for conferences and meetings.

  • Collaborate with team members on ongoing research projects, literature reviews, and grant proposals.

  • Participate in lab meetings, seminars, and professional development activities at Florida Atlantic University, Jupiter.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of biology, life sciences, neuroscience, biochemistry, or a closely related field required.

Demonstrated interest in life sciences research with hands-on experience in a lab setting (e.g., through internships, research assistantships, or capstone projects) required.

Familiarity with laboratory techniques relevant to the laboratory, such as Molecular benchwork, HPLC, Microscopy, Electrophysiology, Data Analysis, Cell Culture, Model Organisms etc. required.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in a team environment required.

Excellent communication and organizational skills required.

Salary:

$19.64 per hour.
