As a Formulation scientist you will develop new formulations & support idea generation, with in-depth understanding of physics of particle formation and characterization. You will also need deep understanding on how to modulate bioavailability and how to release bioactives at specific sites (controlled release). You will be part of a globally operating team And you will cooperate cross-functionally with different departments and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading projects for the development of controlled release formulations and formulations enhancing bioavailability for oral food and pharma applications.

  • Setting up and leading an internal expert panel on "controlled release and modulating bioavailability", e.g., by hosting regular meetings and supporting trouble shooting activities and active participation in the design of workplans and interpretation of results generated.

  • Work on mid-term, strategical pharma and nutraceutical solution (e.g., internal workshops as well as workshops with external customers, idea generation, lab trials)

  • Active planning as well as participation in cross-functional ideation workshops. Planning, execution, and evaluation of experiments.

  • Development of relevant characterization methods and evaluation of new technologies/tools. Carrying out literature searches and IP screenings.

  • Safety assessment of laboratory processes and support of activities for reorganization of the laboratory area.

  • Training and guidance of laboratory staff. Comprehensive reporting and documentation of results and experiments including presentations.

You bring:

  • Education in pharmaceutical technology, food technology, chemistry, materials science or similar.

  • PhD with 5+ years of experience, or 7+ years of relevant experience.

  • Formulation development (knowledge in the field of e.g., emulsification, tableting, freeze drying, spray drying, granulation techniques, extrusion).

  • Expertise in relevant characterization methods.

  • Knowledge on modulating bioavailability and controlling release of bioactives at specific organs or release sites.

  • Collaborative mindset to support idea generation and subsequent translation into lab trials; results-oriented team player.

  • Innovative and creative mindset to encourage people to think “out of the box”. Agility, openness to change and identifying/creating opportunities in a dynamic market environment.

  • Fluent English, German will be an asset.
