About the Job

Warner Bros. Discovery seeks a seasoned Technical Program Manager for CNN cross-functional teams. Technical Program Management is a key part of the technology team at CNN. We build global technology solutions that scale to millions of customers. We innovate on behalf of customers to delight them and address their pain points.

We need someone that can develop and execute technical programs with cross-functional teams; that has experience in distributed content management platforms, release management and managing cross-dependencies across the organization.

An opportunity to join CNN and help to determine the next generation of consumer platform products. You will bring both technical and program management skills, business acumen and judgment, and the desire to bring clarity to ambiguity.

You possess a technical program management background, will have demonstrated experience delivering software in consumer experiences software and platforms systems or related industry.

You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done.

You can influence with a knack for getting things done. Who is able to separate what's important from what's urgent and find the best path forward from among multiple scenarios, earn the trust of stakeholders, and improve the efficiency of our cross-functional organization.

The Performance, Platform Partnerships, and Content Platforms teams within the Platforms group are dedicated to developing platform solutions that seamlessly integrate technical excellence with user-centric design. The Daily

  • You will help drive collaborative cross-functional teams to oversee the planning, design, and delivery of core platform systems through to production releases. This includes ensuring seamless integration across platform components, architectural alignment, and operational resilience of core infrastructure.

  • You will coordinate across inter-dependent teams to refine and implement core platform architectures, working directly with product and engineering teams to contribute to a cohesive strategy that aligns technical requirements with business/product objectives.

  • Work with teams to help maintain backlogs translate business requirements into technical specifications and define technical roadmaps with product and engineering as partners.

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, manage product and platforms teams inter-dependencies, risks and communicate appropriately across the business.

  • Partner with engineering to solve release processes inefficiencies, governances, and operations.

  • Drive engagement and facilitate OKRs goals and establishing milestones that align with cross-functional team dependencies and strategic goals and communicate across the organization.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and software delivery best practices.

  • Evangelize software delivery standards using agile and/or continuous deployment methodologies, be the champion of teams' health and performance;

  • Contribute to define new standards, advocate for our architecture, process, design system and standards across the organization.

  • Support new team members onboarding, tools, documentation, team distribution list; serve as the L1/L2 Support for anyone onboarding into the teams.

  • Manage and track teams opex and capex finances in partnership with the portfolio manager.

  • Collaborate on technical skill development and expertise enhancement with the Senior Staff IC Technical Program Lead.

The Essentials

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field of equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with engineering teams and 3 years in technical program management or equivalent experience.

  • Knowledge of CMS infrastructure and RESTful API integration(s).

  • Knowledge in modern languages in use (Java, Python, JavaScript) and architectural paradigm(s)

  • Understanding of cloud-based infrastructure (AWS), edge compute, and scalable data architecture.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices, GitHub, and agile+iterative development methodologies.

  • Able to translate requirements, system architecture, and facilitating cross-functional engineering program efforts.

  • Adept communication skills to convey complex technical information to stakeholders across all organizational levels.

The Nice to Haves

  • Experience building solutions in distributed systems and/or developing applications.

  • Ability to inspire teams to work on not just what is urgent, but what is most important.

  • Ascertain the true requirements underlying feature requests; recommend alternative technical approaches and support engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines.

  • Participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment for platform health.
