Job Description Summary:
The Director is responsible for providing leadership and support for the Office of Grants and Research in the KU School of Nursing (SON). This position is responsible for directing the administrative functions of the office and supervising the administrative team and Graduate Research Assistants. The Director oversees sponsored projects award management, collaborates in strategic planning, trains research and sponsored projects faculty and staff on sponsor and university policies and procedures, manages the office budget, tracks metrics, produces reports for stakeholders, supports the SON annual budget load process, and serves as a representative of the SON and Office of Grants and Research across the university. Additionally, the Director is responsible for the management of research grants, other sponsored projects and related administrative functions for an assigned portfolio of faculty. The Director is responsible for managing the pre-award activities including the identification of funding opportunities, development of grant proposals, internal tracking, and coordination of Just-in-Time submissions. The Director is also responsible for managing non-financial post award activities including award set-up, management of effort, payroll confirmation, and cost share commitments, coordination of the submission of deliverables, review and routing of research performance progress reports, initiation of award modifications, and award closeout. The Director collaborates with the SON Office of Business and Fiscal Affairs to monitor grant spending, approve transactions in Workday, and assist with purchasing as needed. This position works closely with faculty, departmental staff, Sponsored Programs Administration, and external sponsors to ensure compliance with sponsor requirements, technical specifications, and deadlines. The Director reports to the Associate Dean of Research and works closely with the Administrative Director of the School of Nursing.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Office of Grants and Research (OGR) Leadership and Support (40%)
- Directs the administrative functions of the OGR in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Research and the Administrative Director of the School of Nursing.
{=html} <!-- --> - Supervises the OGR administrative team (i.e., Office Administrator and Grant Manager) and Graduate Research Assistants: - Cultivates an environment where team members promote the SON mission and vision and adhere to standards of integrity and ethics. - Mentors team members and develops skill sets to encourage growth. - Collaborates with the SON Office of Business and Fiscal Affairs to assess faculty needs for Graduate Research Assistants; determine available funding; hire, recruit and onboard; appoint; and initiate tuition sponsorship. - Oversees sponsored projects award management for the SON: - Facilitates frequent meetings with the SON Office of Business and Fiscal Affairs to enhance collaboration in the management of grant awards (e.g., finance, costing allocations, effort, human resources, equipment). - Apprises the Associate Dean of Research of changes and developments with faculty pre-award activity and receipt of new awar s. - Manages portfolio assignments. - In collaboration with the Associate Dean for Research, conducts feasibility reviews for pre-award submissions. - In collaboration with the Associate Dean for Research, assists faculty with record storage, retention, and destruction.

{=html} <!-- --> - Manges the OGR office budget: - Responsible for ensuring funds are available to support travel for faculty, staff, and students. - Tracks sponsored projects metrics, including proposal submissions, new awards, and other relevant information to provide to both internal and external stakeholders, as requested. - In collaboration with the SON Office of Business and Fiscal Affairs, provides information needed to support the annual budget load process. - Represents the SON and OGR on university committees, task forces, and in other meetings as appropriate. - Serves as a liaison across university departments and schools.
