Job Description Summary:
This position will be responsible to compile monthly, quarterly and annual financial and budget reports as required. These reports will include cash, modified cash (budget basis) and GAAP basis information and will be compared to actuals and key performance indicators. This position will create and run ad hoc reports as requested or needed. It will lead reporting and analysis on monthly cash flow activity and availability, and long-term projections for strategic decision making by stakeholders inside and outside the organization. The position will manage the budget analysis for complex organizational business areas.

Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for implementation of GAAP and Cash budget reconciliation
- Responsible for detailed analysis on the use of and reporting of Endowment funds
- Responsible for initiating and implementation of additional budget checks/controls
- Work with CBO (Central Budget Office) members to determine methodologies for risk based reviews
- Work with University-wide group to set goals and best practices, and implementation of estimating research revenue
- Budgeting, Evaluation and Reporting of use of centralized funding
- Will understanding and help with the performance of the State budget process and reporting to the State legislature and the Kansas Board of Regents
- Identify, strategize, develop and implement best practices and processes within the accounting and budget planning systems to support the University Areas (departments)
- Area analysis, detail reviews, forecast
- Compile and analyze monthly and quarterly Area reports
- Assist Areas with multi-year planning and commitments process
- Identify opportunities to streamline the planning and forecasting processes to improve effectiveness of the budget system
- Provide timely queries and reports and assist in data analysis to support Area goals and objectives
- Support the Central Budget Office in special projects, research and other requests as needed
- Evaluate requests for funding using budget analysis and communication with Area requesting
- Provide guidance, training and system reference materials to end users
- Create business processes, systems, and workflows to be efficient and effective.
- Collaborate with the Central Budget Office on institutional wide initiatives.
- Has a strong business acumen and the ability to grasp complex concepts.
- Ability to drive projects forward, provide structure and resources to leaders across KUMC.
- Make data-driven decisions.
- Partners with team to develop and/or enhances budgetary policies, procedures, and processes.
- Partner with team to re-evaluate enhancement of business processes, systems, and workflows to be efficient and effective.
- Review the bi-annual Workday Adaptive release items and determine if they are applicable to KUMC\'s Workday Adaptive for implementation.
- On a regular basis, monitor the Workday Adaptive Community for updates and troubleshooting.
- Research and evaluate industry best practices and implement as appropriate.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Experience used to substitute education is in addition to any required work experience.
Work Experience:
- Five (5) years relevant work experience
- Three (3) years training or mentoring others
- Knowledge of GAAP, modified GAAP and Cash basis of accounting
- Proven expertise of building models and reports within a complex accounting system
- Experience with custom report writing with sophisticated ERP tools
- Experience with large, complex organizational settings
- Experience identifying and driving process and system optimization
- Experience with data acquisition, modeling, database management (e.g. SQL), and Excel VBA
- Experience building models, reports, and dashboards
- Experience with data analysis and modeling
