The Whole Person Occupational Therapy Assistant - FT in Kansas City, Missouri
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will aide consumers of The Whole Person by assessing and assisting in the exploration of adaptive equipment and techniques needed for daily independent living and working.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assess consumer’s levels and needs under various TWP Programs and Services
Analyze relevant independent living information to determine appropriate goals
Help and encourage consumers to explore safe and effective ways to complete independent home skills and activities.
Consult with consumer to choose effective activity programs
Coordinate occupational therapy with other types of therapeutic activities
Maintain accurate records of consumer interventions, report to Supervisor and other administrative tasks as requested
Regular and predictable attendance
REQUIRED SKILLS
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in Missouri and Kansas
Knowledge of principles, methods and equipment used in occupational therapy body mechanics
Able to understand and interpret complex written or verbal instructions
Valid driver’s license

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position will be traveling to various locations in the Kansas City Metropolitan area. Much of the time will be spent on feet while setting up equipment and providing therapy to consumers. This is a physically demanding position and will require constant kneeling, stooping and lifting.
