Overview
There is an opportunity for research in the laboratory of Dr. John Perry, which studies unique relations between stem cells, cancer, and immunology to develop new therapies for pediatric leukemia. The Perry lab uses a variety of techniques including flow cytometry, stem cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9, genomics, and high-throughput screening. Model systems include cancer cell lines, transgenic mouse models, iPS cells, and primary cells from human patients. The overall goal of the lab is to understand how different processes contribute to turning a normal stem cell into cancer, with the aim of identifying new treatment approaches for patients with blood cancers, particularly in the realm of immunotherapy.
At Children’s Mercy, we are committed to ensuring that everyone feels welcomed within our walls. A successful candidate for this position will join us as we strive to create a workplace that reflects the community we serve, as well as our core values of kindness, curiosity, inclusion, team and integrity.
