Overview

Leads strategic system projects ranging from moderately to highly complex which can encompass multiple applications and business areas to successful and timely completion of the project(s) scope within budget. Serve as a liaison between Research Informatics, business stakeholders, Information Services, development engineers, and others. Provides administrative decision making, leadership and planning for implementing research informatics projects. Provides day-to-day coordination, communications, issue/resolution, and financial management related to the specific projects. Oversees resources assigned to the project and must understand the project goals, scope, and objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member to effectively coordinate the activities of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders on creating quality, complete and accurate deliverables including but not limited to charters, plans, risk/issues, budget management, test plans, status reports, documentation/user guides, communications, implementation (go-live) planning.

  • Organizes work in project plans and uses appropriate project management tools and processes. Understands critical path and critical dependencies with a project plan.

  • Review and approve project team work to ensure adherence to scope, quality and productivity expectations and implement additional processes or reviews as needed to address systemic or recurring issues.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers/stakeholders, including (but not limited to) projects status, issue/risk escalation and resolution with ability to propagate information promptly, clearly, and unambiguously. Manages expectations for the delivery of the project.

  • Collect and analyze project related data to identify problems and root causes.

  • Facilitate retrospective reviews to evaluate the released product and collect lessons learned.

  • Create executive updates and reports to effectively communicate the vision, priorities, approach and progress of the program. Present project updates and metrics as required.

  • Lead statement of work development and negotiations. Initiate and track contracting processes for software and product/equipment purchases.

  • Manage vendor relationships and hold vendors accountable for deliverables and support.

  • Oversee and guide testing efforts and documentation. Participate in testing when needed. - Lead and recommend continuous process improvement of project management and Agile tools and processes

  • Train, mentor and delegate to other more junior project managers or others.

  • Create dashboards/metrics.

  • Lead software product evaluation and selection process including researching options, gathering requirements, stakeholder engagement, facilitating evaluations/scoring/selection.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related academic field and 5-7 years of project management and/or Scrum master experience relevant to this position implementing projects with a wide variety of assignments.- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, IT/Computer Science, Research, Healthcare or similar preferred.

  • 2-5 years Healthcare IT experience in hospital or technology vendor experience preferred. - Software engineering experience or strong knowledge and/or product development/management experience preferred.- Agile and/or Scrum experience and certification preferred.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.

Additional Skills

  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio), Project Management tools (such as MS Project, or SmartSheet), and Agile tools (such as Jira, DevOps, etc.).

  • Strong analytical and technical abilities, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to lead multiple projects and manage priorities.

  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills.

  • Skilled in talking with individuals and groups about their needs and asking the effective questions.

  • Effective listener and collaborator.

  • Creative and flexible in attitude and style to adapt to new situations in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $41.57/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is entirely remote or work-from-home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area and may attend on-site meetings, as scheduled.
