Benton PUD Electrical Engineering (Power) Intern - Summer 2025 in Kennewick, Washington

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Are you working towards your BA/BS in Electrical Engineering with an | | emphasis in power systems and in your Junior year of studies?  If | | yes, Benton PUD has a terrific opportunity for you!  We are seeking a | | highly motivated student that is excited to have the chance to be | | mentored by our elite team of Engineers for our Summer 2025 | | Electrical Engineering (Power) Internship. | | | | The primary purpose of this position is to introduce the student | | intern to electrical utility engineering work prior to the student's | | final year of studies.  Under the direction of Professional | | Engineers, the student will perform special projects involving power | | system analysis, equipment and technical research, data analytics and | | applied technology. The selected intern will be a resource to a team | | of electrical engineers needing project and planning study support | | for high priority efforts needed to meet Benton PUD's near and | | long-term objectives. | | | | This is a full time, non-exempt, temporary position with an expected | | duration of 10 to 12 weeks over the Summer. Salary will depend on | | qualifications including any relevant past job experience and/or | | coursework completed. There are limited benefits available with this | | position. Highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills and the ability | | to quickly assimilate into a team. | | 2. Desire and ability to quickly learn new software systems through | | direct instruction and independent study. | | 5. Strong aptitude for researching and applying new equipment and | | technology. | | 6. Strong core competency in electrical engineering fundamentals. | | | | Minimum Education and Experience: | | | | - Completion of third year/Junior year of studies towards a BA/BS | | in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in Power and | | completion of coursework on the fundamental theory and | | application of three-phase transformers, motors and generators | | before starting the internship. | | - (Preferred) Experience with load-flow and short-circuit analysis | | for three-phase power systems and protective device coordination | | studies. | | - Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel and Word skills. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+
