Medical Lab ScientistJob Description
Conduct Blood Tests: Perform blood typing, cross-matching, and antibody identification to ensure compatibility for transfusions.
Prepare Blood Components: Process and prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions.
Test for Infections: Screen blood samples for viral or bacterial infections to ensure safety.
Maintain Equipment: Operate and maintain advanced laboratory equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning correctly.
Document Results: Record and maintain detailed records of test results and blood donations.
Quality Control: Implement and adhere to stringent protocols and quality control measures to safeguard patient health.
Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare workers to provide necessary blood products and information.
Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field.
Certification: Certification from a recognized body such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is often required.
Skills: Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of immunohematology.

The pay range for this position is $27.25 - $43.00
