Hiring Outside Machinists in Seattle!
Job Description
The candidate will perform a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving various shipboard systems and components. The mechanic must possess general knowledge of shipboard equipment operation, disassembly/assembly, testing, and record keeping of work performed.
Responsibilities
Repair, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on boilers, pumps, and valves.
Work on board ships on auxiliary equipment, pump valves, and boiler systems.
Perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline and marine engines, outboard motors, and related marine equipment and systems using schematic charts and technical manuals.
Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program for marine engines and related marine research equipment.
Test marine engines and equipment to determine the need for repairs or adjustments.
Repair and maintain hydraulic equipment and valves.
Operate hand and power tools associated with marine engine and equipment repair.
Assist in the fabrication of equipment.
Essential Skills
Experience in production, shipyard, and mechanical work.
Knowledge of shipboard systems, including boilers, pumps, valves, and mechanical overhaul.
2-8 years of experience working in the ship repair industry.
Eligibility to access the Vigor shipyard and obtain DBIDS for future work.
Ability to set up and operate shop and portable machining tools or equipment.
General machinist knowledge, including using required measuring instruments, hand and power tools.
Ability to read and understand engineering prints, technical manuals, and diagrams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience as an engineman or in the Navy.
Knowledge of gas turbine engines.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00
