Actalent Product Engineer in Kernersville, North Carolina
Job Description
We are seeking a talented Product Engineer to utilize SolidWorks for product design and development, with a focus on sheet metal and stamping. You will be responsible for performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and stress analysis, working with sheet metal, metal stamping, and injection molding processes. You will take products from sales through to design for manufacturability and collaborate cross-functionally with sales, manufacturing, and tooling teams. Additionally, you will conduct product testing to validate design and functionality, engage in hands-on work, and contribute to machine design and automation projects.
Responsibilities
Utilize SolidWorks for product design and development, with experience in sheet metal and stamping.
Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and stress analysis.
Work with sheet metal, metal stamping, and injection molding processes.
Take products from sales through to design for manufacturability.
Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, manufacturing, and tooling teams to ensure seamless product development.
Conduct product testing to validate design and functionality.
Engage in hands-on work, demonstrating strong mechanical aptitude.
Contribute to machine design and automation projects to drive innovation.
Apply knowledge of lean manufacturing, process improvement, and related methodologies.
Manage Bill of Materials (BOM) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
Essential Skills
Proficiency in SolidWorks.
Experience with FEA and stress analysis.
Experience with sheet metal, metal stamping, and injection molding.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
Hands-on mechanical aptitude and willingness to engage in practical work.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and process improvement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Certifications in SolidWorks, FEA, and stress analysis are a plus.
Experience with BOM and MRP systems is a plus.
Experience in the furniture industry is a plus.
Experience with metalworking, milling, and CNC operations is a plus.
Machine design and automation experience is a plus.
Work Environment
The role primarily involves working in a well-equipped, air-conditioned office environment, focusing on design and development tasks. There will be occasional visits to the production floor to collaborate with the team and oversee the implementation of designs. This hands-on involvement ensures the seamless transition of products from concept to manufacturing. Please note that half of the production floor is air-conditioned, providing a comfortable setting for these activities.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $48.00/hr.
