BAE Systems Quality Control Manager in Kingsport, Tennessee

The BAE Systems team in Kingsport, TN is seeking a Lab Manager. In this role as a Lab Manager, you will be charged with the following:
Directly manage the Quality Control Supervisors, Laboratory Technicians and Analytical Chemists.
Ensure adequate training for the entire quality control staff.
Manage all disciplinary actions within the Quality Control staff.
Oversee testing and inspection of raw materials, packaging components, intermediates and final products to ensure compliance with applicable specifications.
Generate Engineering Change Proposals or Request for Variances as needed when discrepancies are identified.
Ensure all quality control and analytical procedures are up to date and being adhered to by staff.
Audit quality control procedures to ensure compliance.
Interact with internal and external customers regarding quality control processes.
Write and/or approve Analytical Standard Methods (ASMs).
Review raw material purchase orders to ensure accuracy prior to issuance to suppliers.
Perform investigations and complete corrective actions for quality control failures.
Ensure compliance of staff with all safety and environmental regulations.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a technical field and 8 years related work experience, or the overall equivalent.
Working knowledge in quality control/laboratory processes, procedures, and requirements.
Experience in chemical and/or explosives manufacturing.
Experience performing root cause analysis investigations.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Highly effective communication written and verbal skills.
Leadership experience particularly in managing a team.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with customers.
Proven computer literacy in MS Office and industry-related software applications.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Previous experience managing an analytical laboratory for chemical or explosive manufacturing.
Ability to communicate information and data via presentations.
Masters Degree in technical or management discipline.
One of the following: ASQ Certification as a Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality Manager, Six Sigma Greenbelt, Six Sigma Blackbelt, company-sponsored Quality Certification, or demonstration of skills through past performance.
High proficiency in Quality tools and principles.
DoD industry experience.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $95252 - $161928
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
