United States Fleet Forces Command SUPERVISORY HEALTH PHYSICIST in Kittery, Maine

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY HEALTH PHYSICIST in the RADIATION HEALTH DIVISION, RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will plan and schedule work to be accomplished by subordinates. You will recommend procurement of material, equipment and supplies necessary for the organization. You will ensure that equipment and other facilities necessary for work are available and plan location and use of equipment. You will review work by means of technical reports and discussions with subordinates. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience establishing radiation dosimetry procedures. *Experience administering a system of personnel exposure control by collecting, reading, and reporting/documenting dosimetry devices. *Experience providing procedures/training in the operation, control and interpretation of data from RADIAC equipment. *Experience detecting and measuring individuals exposure to ionizing radiation by processing dosimetric devices issued to qualified radiation workers. *Experience developing plans and conducting training for subordinates. Education BASIC REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual. The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: Degree: natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus. OR Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in 1 above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in paragraph 1. You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts. Failure to do so will result in an ineligible rating. POSITIVE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: This position has a Positive Education Requirement.
