Kodiak Island Borough School District Custodian III - Night in Kodiak, Alaska
Position Summary: The Custodian III - Lead Custodian, under the general supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, supervises and directs other custodians in assigned areas, District-wide. The Custodian III is distinguished from the Custodian I and II in that he/she acts as a working lead custodian, and as Custodial Supervisor when the Custodial Supervisor is absent.
Hours: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 12 months per year Salary: Entry Range 13.5, Step 1: $20.06 per hour
Qualifications: Must know custodial practices and equipment to be able to supervise others in performance of custodial duties. Must be able to supervise others and to develop a cooperative relationship with those supervised. Willing to work varying shift assignments. Must possess a valid State of Alaska motor vehicle operators license with no insurance restrictions. Ability to work well with public, students, staff, and parents. Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information. Ability to safely, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Responsibilities: Supervise and direct other custodians in his/her assigned area and District-wide. Make security checks and turn off lights in assigned areas. Help train other employees, District-wide. Order from the Custodial Supervisor supplies and equipment for other employees in assigned areas. Sweep, mop, strip and wax all floors; vacuum all rugs. Keep all public parts of the building clean and in order. Clean, disinfect restrooms and replenish all required supplies. Remove all trash, litter and wastepaper from building. Keep walks and entranceways free from dirt and trash. Remove or report any conditions that are or could become safety, health or fire hazards. Paint and make minor repairs to buildings and grounds during school breaks and summer vacations. Attend classroom instruction for additional training when requested by school administration. Is responsible for the security and safekeeping of assigned building areas and equipment as directed. Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business materials and information. Other duties as assigned from time to time.
