Project Engineer, Sauna, Wellness Products

Work Mode: Hybrid

Location: Hybrid – Kohler, WI

Opportunity

The primary responsibility of the Project Engineer in our Wellness Products Group is to deliver innovative consumer sauna products as part of a highly collaborative cross-functional team. The Project Engineer must combine strong technical skills, collaborative leadership, creativity, and business acumen to the role; working with the team to bring products from initial concept through to production.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Leverages creative problem solving to design innovative, cost effective, and functional Wellness bathing products that delight customers and represent the Kohler brand.

  • Brings a positive approach and collaborates with cross functional teams including marketing, program management, industrial design, and manufacturing operations to deliver products on time, within budget.

  • Is passionate about innovation and consistently searches for opportunities to create transformative products.

  • Has demonstrated experience in sub-system and component development – executing the product engineering tasks of bringing a product to market.

  • Utilizes broad range material and manufacturing process knowledge including wood working, casting, injection molding, extrusion, metal fabrication, etc.

  • Is familiar coordinating work across regions and cultures as part of a global engineering organization.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Generates and advises on product specifications: customer, regulatory, and technical requirements.

  • Originate ideas for products improvements, enhanced, product features, and product modifications.

  • Assures functional acceptability through application of engineering tools, analysis, and testing. This includes prototyping, simulation, DFA, DFMEA and qualification.

  • Conduct engineering analysis and implementation of design modifications to improve manufacturability or cost optimization.

  • Leverage existing construction technology to optimize designs for best performance and cost.

  • Prepares detailed projects and/or technical plans for product development and/or improvement.

  • Collaborates with senior engineers, support personnel, suppliers, and other outside groups involving product design, documentation, development, drafting, prototype construction, and test of product concepts.

  • Utilizes 3D CAD software (PTC Creo) for the realization of concepts or designs.

  • Tests, and debugs mechanical systems to prove out designs.Establishes product specifications, test plans, and design documentation.

  • Leads product engineering tasks within the product development process from concept through production

  • Makes appropriate decisions using support tools, accurate data and critical thinking.

  • Implement products into production according to established milestones.

  • Occasional travel to visit suppliers, customers, tradeshows, and other Kohler locations as required.

  • Clearly and effectively present (both written and orally) the results of their efforts to their project teams and/or management as appropriate in English. Documents and presents experiences to share knowledge within and outside the department.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.

  • A minimum of 4 years related work experience in a Mechanical Engineering position.

  • Able to work closely with US and Global teams to execute the product development process

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (PTC Creo preferred).

  • In-depth understanding of Six Sigma tools including FMEA, DOE, and process capability preferred

  • Ability to work independently and with a cross-functional team.

  • Ability to independently test, analyze and solve technical problems.

  • Must exhibit excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

The salary range for this position is $83,300 - $105,200. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
