Role Summary
Flowserve is looking for a Project Engineer to be located in the Global Project Management program office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The project engineer will support project managers with execution of large capital projects, performing product selection and application engineering, supporting change management of equipment, and providing technical interface activities between Flowserve manufacturing facilities and major project customers.
Reporting to the Kuala Lumpur project management manager, the project engineer will be the primary point of contact for technical aspects of project order execution from early selection of product to project information handover to service and support personnel upon deliverable completion and project close out.
Responsibilities
Takes responsibility for the flow and content of technical information involved in execution of orders for equipment and non-material deliverables supporting major CAPEX projects.
Supports factory personnel with inquiries from clients and customers involved in strategic and large revenue Flowserve contracts.
Establish a strong relationship with client technical resources and maintain those relationships through adversity.
Execute the project in a safe, efficient, and timely manner in accordance with the client agreed upon contractual obligations and specifications.
Leverage industry best practices and tools to support positive project financials, documentation, risk management and schedule in order to adhere to key KPIs. Implement corrective actions to rectify faltering metrics through identification of problem areas, proposal of potential solutions to managers and following through with selected path forward plans.
Ensure company interests are protected and contractual risk is minimized.
Comprehend technical and related commercial aspects of contractual conditions and technical specifications.
Ensures clear and open communication with project team members and between project team and factory functional groups to assure changes in scope of work and schedule are captured in the Change Management System (MOC).
Provide client technical support interface to factory project managers throughout the project life cycle. Via escalation as necessary, coordinates subject matter experts and key stakeholders when specific individual contributor capabilities are exceeded by Project complexity and/or technical depth.
Communicate technical challenges which may result in deliverable cost or schedule challenges.
Experience/Skills:
5+ years engineering experience in valve product selection, application engineering or valve design.
Knowledge of industry standards including, but not limited to API, ISO, MSS, ASTM and DIN.
Proficiency with MS office Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat).
Strong inter-personal skills to be able to work with individuals across a wide range of experience levels, knowledge backgrounds and incentive drivers.
Strong mindset toward standardized processes, with a drive to implement lean and flow concepts beyond the manufacturing environment.
Minimum with Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering is required.
