We are seeking an energetic Facility Operations Supervisor to lead our production driven safety conscious team in East Chicago, IN . Responsibilities include but not limited to front line leadership supervision of plant operations including shipping and receiving, railcars and blending.

• Performs supervision of department and site-specific plant operations, including, but not limited to, truck and rail loading/unloading, tank farm operations, scanning applications for Waste tracking.

• Supervises and mentors’ union employees

• Training and development of new hires

• Following up to ensure they are trained properly and signed off

• Able to review all applicable standard operating procedures (SOP’s) annually and score satisfactorily on quizzes.

• Acts as the recognized subject matter expert in their area(s) of responsibility.

• Ensures that employees follow and maintain all applicable Health and Safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures, and all other site-specific policies and procedures and holds employees accountable when they do not.

• Ensures that supervised operations/ employees understand and have ownership for area specific permit required compliance standards.

• Works under the direction of the S&R Manager or equivalent.

• Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in their areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

What does it take to work at Safety-Kleen?

• High School or equivalent

• 3+ years supervisory type experience in a heavy industrial environment preferred

• Production experience preferred

• Petro-Chemical exp is a plus!

• Experience leading in a union environment

• Strong leadership skills

• Experience writing HOTWORK permits is a plus!

• Rail and Tanker knowledge dealing with liquids is an asset

• Must work well under pressure and pivot as needed to meet deadlines

• Excellent communication skills written and verbal

• Strong documentation and organizational skills

• Computer literate

• Proficient MS Office Suite – Word, Excel and Outlook

• Proven problem solver
