Actalent Instrumentation & Controls Engineer in LAKE MARY, Florida

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our team. This role involves the specification and procurement of instrumentation for large frame Gas Turbines, maintaining all supporting instrument documentation, and supporting project engineering in addressing customer instrumentation requirements. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining Gas Turbine Control Logic documentation, assessing bids for new gas turbine builds, and ensuring compliance with technical standards and codes.

Responsibilities

  • Specify and procure instrumentation for large frame Gas Turbines.

  • Create and maintain all supporting instrument documentation.

  • Maintain Gas Turbine Control Logic documentation.

  • Support project engineering in addressing customer instrumentation requirements.

  • Assess bids for new gas turbine builds.

  • Determine customer instrumentation and control contract requirements and delivery dates.

  • Create instrumentation procurement schedules and technical specifications.

  • Verify supplier quotes and instrumentation against system P&IDs.

  • Create instrument loops and data sheets for instrumentation.

  • Generate drawings for instrumentation.

  • Provide design input documents for I/O list creation.

  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, project management, and other relevant authorities.

  • Collaborate with design engineers, operations engineers, purchasers, sales & marketing, and other internal staff.

  • Resolve customer comments on drawings.

  • Create and maintain I&C procedures and checklists.

  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve at various project sites.

  • Ensure compliance with technical standards of the country in which work is undertaken.

  • Interpret and apply codes like ISA, ANSI/NEMA, NFPA, AGA, etc.

  • Qualify new vendors if required.

  • Travel up to 15%.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering from a four-year college or university.

  • At least five (5) years of relevant I&C experience in power plants, process/chemical plants, or oil & gas.

  • Proficiency in instrumentation, P&ID, and process instrumentation diagrams.

  • Knowledge of plant processing and familiarity with systems such as Netmation, MK5, MK6, Complicity, T3000, R3000, Simatic, Ovation, and Delta V.

  • Experience with pressure transmitters, switches, gauges, control valves, thermocouples, RTDs, vibration sensors, speed sensors, positioners, LVDTs, level sensors, calorie meters, CEMS, emissions, and Balance of Plant (BOP).

  • Ability to create I/O lists and signal interfaces.

  • Strong language skills to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and to write reports and business correspondence.

  • Mathematical proficiency in probability, statistical inference, and geometry.

  • Strong reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) and Smart Plant 3D (S3D) is highly desirable.

  • Ability to conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for instrumentation.

  • Experience in supporting field operations with on-site installation of instrumentation.

  • Capability to provide startup commissioning, operations, troubleshooting support, and root cause analysis for equipment failures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
