Summary

​​The purpose of the IT Business Partner role is to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders. The IT Business Partner collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders and resources including architects, product owners, subject matter experts and business leaders. This role looks for modern technologies to optimize business processes and plays a pivotal role in ensuring a thorough understanding of business requirements and needs.​

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • ​​Collaborates with project sponsors and stakeholders to determine scope and vision for each project to provide recommendations for solutions, documenting proposals for consideration by stakeholders

  • Documents user requirements through a variety of methods such as interviews, workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, and scenarios. These analyses are used to collaborate with stakeholders on a project-by-project basis to establish scope, parameters, and prioritize requirements

  • Analyzes business processes to support specifications and requirements for solutioning

  • Conducts research on software and hardware products to meet agreed-upon requirements and to support purchasing efforts, and evaluates features and functions of purchased solutions to ensure they have been enabled and optimized in conjunction with the documented requirements

  • Creates business cases, feasibility studies, financial analysis, and other artifacts for proposed solutions

  • Documents test requirements and test cases

  • Contributes to training materials and training development to support adoption of new solutions

  • Analyzes and verifies requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards

  • Elicits feedback from development team on quality and thoroughness of user stories

  • Translates conceptual user requirements into functional requirements, through standard templates, in a clear manner that are comprehensive and comprehensible to developers/project team and then assists with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options and communicate these back to the business stakeholders.

  • Where applicable, develops prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on user requirements

  • Creates process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers, vendors and/or the project team and other solution providers

  • Develops and conducts peer reviews of business requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted

  • Manages and tracks the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine, as necessary

  • Communicates changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements – verbally or through written documentation – to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are well understood​

Qualifications

The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree or equivalent work experience

  • Three + years related work experience

  • 3+ years' experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development

  • 3+ years' experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products

  • Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language

  • Ability to apply analytical and statistical skills to systems issues and products as required

  • Proficient in product management

  • Proficient in application and software development life cycle concepts​

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal Business Analysis education, certification or training

  • Working knowledge of Azure Devops

  • 3+ years' experience in manufacturing, logistics or transportation​
