Sanfilippo & Son, Inc.Job Description Safety SpecialistJob Title: Safety SpecialistSummary of the Position:The Safety Specialist is responsible for managing and monitoring safety programs,policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements.Supports the Corporate Safety Department by facilitating inspections to identifyunsafe conditions and training for proactive safety measures.Functions of the Position: % Of Time Essential E) or Marginal (M)Functions Performed40% E Completes daily facility walk-through of all buildings to identifysafety concerns and conduct compliance required audits. Stocksfirst aid kits for facility and maintains first aid log.10% E Coordinates with Corporate Safety team on all issues thatrequire immediate attention.10% E Performs initial and reoccurring forklift training. (Classroom andproficiency testing)10% E Maintains safety communication boards and postings. Prepareswritten reports and metrics for the Corporate SafetyDepartment. Responsible for SDSOnline site and chemicalupdates.15% E Conducts safety trainings. Champions site corporate safetyprograms.5% E Aids supervisors/managers in accident/incident investigationsand assists with completion of all required documentation.5% E Manages the safety committee and all related activities.5% E Maintains local safety training documentation including safetytraining, monthly safety meetings, and monthly safetycommittee minutes. Coordinates quarterly facility inspections.ContinuallyResponsible for manufacturing, distributing andconsistently maintaining safe and quality food byfollowing current good manufacturing practices,allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/food fraud,HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and regulatory requirements.Aware and accountable for maintaining and documentingpreventative controls necessary to ensure food safety andquality.Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety andquality issues to management.Responsible for partnering with others, sharingknowledge, skills, and information within assigned teamand across functional areas.Responsible for enhancing technical and functionalcompetencies, as well as professional and leadershipdevelopment.Qualifications:Education, Experience, and Knowledge:Associate or bachelors degree with an emphasis in Safety or Behavioralbased leadership preferred.Two years of experience in safety or related discipline.Experience in training safety programs and preventing unsafe conditions andacts.Some knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred.Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:OSHA 30 preferredCertified Safety Professional preferredAssociate Safety Professional preferredSkills and Competencies:Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Ability to communicate with all levels of management as well as hourlyemployees.Bilingual, English/Spanish strongly preferredJob Specific Requirements:In the event that the Safety Specialist is absent, the department manager isresponsible for providing an equally qualified person to cover this position.Equal Opportunity Employer - minorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
