Cummins Inc. Facilities Technician - Electrician - Level III in Lakewood, New York

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Facilities Technician - Electrician - Level III to join our team specializing in Facilities for our Cummins Inc. facility in Jamestown, NY.

  • Mentor and Train : By training apprentices and other technicians, you’ll help build a skilled workforce and ensure high standards of electrical work.

  • Continuous Improvement : Leading electrical work in improvement projects and participating in audits will drive continuous improvement and maintain quality in electrical systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Communicates Effectively : Tailor your communication style to suit different audiences. Whether it’s through emails, presentations, or face-to-face meetings, ensure your message is clear and addresses the unique needs of your audience. Effective communication can bridge gaps and enhance understanding.

  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop a comprehensive emergency preparedness program. Identify potential risks and create a risk management plan to address incidents like power outages, floods, and fires. Ensure the maintenance of emergency systems and report any impairments promptly.

  • Facilities Maintenance: Regularly assess the condition of the facility, including its systems, structure, interiors, exteriors, and grounds. Manage operations and maintenance activities efficiently. Implement asset management systems for preventative maintenance using criticality analysis, predictive tools, and prioritization.

  • Facilities Operation : Oversee occupant services such as parking, janitorial services, food services, concierge, facility helpdesk, security, and safety. Manage the maintenance contracting process and develop operational planning requirements for temperature control, lighting, equipment replacement, and water treatment.

  • Facility Electrical Knowledge: Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical distribution systems, bus bars, breaker boxes, motors, and other electrical equipment. Ensure the facility operates properly with reliable lighting and electricity for production activities.

  • Facility Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technical Expertise: Troubleshoot, repair, and install heating equipment, boilers, ventilation systems, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, and other mechanical equipment. Provide necessary heating or cooling to the facility, people, and production processes.

  • Safety Focus : Prioritize safety in all aspects of your work. Evaluate reactive work for safety issues, plan projects with safety as a key consideration, and review preventative work for any unforeseen safety hurdles. Champion proactive health and safety behaviors.

  • Collaboration and Training: Work cross-functionally to make repairs and improvements. Train apprentices and other technicians to build a skilled workforce and ensure high standards of work. Participate in team audits and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Information:

Building Management System

  • Monitors, evaluates, and adjusts mechanical systems performance for proper and efficient operation.

  • Provide recommendations on equipment/systems operation and modification for energy conservation, efficiency, and reliability.

  • Assist contractors with maintaining PLCs and other control software interfaces.

  • Provide technical guidance and support including set-up, verification, operation, and troubleshooting complex building automation and control systems.

  • Provide technical instruction and training to other technicians on basic theory, proper system operations, troubleshooting techniques, typical system failures and corrections.

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
