Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an experienced PostgreSQL DBA to join our Lottery/Gaming clients Play Digital team remotely in the US. In this role, you will support an enterprise-class environment running PostgreSQL database management systems. Your tasks will include installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and ensuring security. You will design and optimize database schemas, tables, indexes, and queries for performance and scalability. Implementing robust backup and recovery strategies, including regular backups, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery planning, will be part of your responsibilities. You will monitor and manage database performance, identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and conduct routine maintenance tasks. Configuring and running high availability solutions such as replication to ensure continuous database availability will be crucial. You will implement database security best practices, including access control, authentication, and compliance standards. Using your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you will diagnose and resolve database-related issues. You will perform database capacity planning and trend analysis, and use scripting and automation tools to streamline operations. Collaboration with multi-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and L1/L2 support, will be essential. You will build high-quality documentation, including database designs, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Performing security log reviews for audit compliance, detecting, reporting, and escalating anomalies will be part of your duties. Additionally, you will deliver training, mentoring, and coaching to other Database Administrators, encouraging innovation and motivating others. You will also provide on-call rotational 24/7 incident response to database alerts escalated by production monitoring.

Skills and Requirements

Over 10 years of experience managing PostgreSQL databases in a Linux environment.

Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL utilities.

Hands-on experience with Amazon RDS, including PostgreSQL migrations and deployments.

Familiarity with managing versions and deployments in both RDS and on-premise servers.

Skilled in writing shell scripts (Linux, Python).

Proficient with various database monitoring tools.

Capable of managing the entire database lifecycle, including applying patches, upgrades, and routine maintenance.

Understanding of database security best practices, including access control and compliance standards.

Strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers and system administrators. Experience with configuring and maintaining high availability solutions such as replication.

Expertise in performance tuning and optimization of database schemas, tables, indexes, and queries.

Experience with scripting and automation tools to streamline database administration tasks. null
