We seek leaders who are committed to the community college mission, actively engaged in promoting diversity, and prepared to use their unique strengths and innovation with the goal of student success. * Job Description:* POSITION: Full-Time Student Success Specialist (Senior Staff Assistant): *Student Success Hub Advising and Orientation; This position is based primarily on the Lawrence Campus (45 Franklin St), but may also rotate to the Haverhill campus as necessary; MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; 37.5 hours/week, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm & Tuesday 10:00am - 6:00pm; Pay Grade 3 *SUMMARY: *Reporting to the Dean of Enrollment Services, the Student Success Specialist will be responsible for supporting the enrollment, persistence and retention of NECC students. The Student Success Specialist will work in tandem with the Coordinator of Orientation to provide proactive outreach to students who are progressing through the New Student Roadmap, supporting students through the stages of Orientation, by monitoring student alerts in Navigate and directing alerts to the appropriate area. The individual will maintain a comprehensive knowledge of campus services to provide information, assistance, and guidance to prospective, new and current students regarding the new student roadmap, financial services, Academic Centers, college programs, student support services, and advising processes. The Student Success Specialist will work to provide direct support to the Coordinator of Orientation by assisting with creating, planning and delivering year-round NECC Student Orientations both in person and virtually. The Student Success Specialist will also utilize proactive techniques, sending students intentional information and outreach to keep them on track. Employing a case management approach includes engaging in active and consistent follow up with students to ensure persistence and success. In addition, the Specialist will review and monitor student alerts in the Navigate system and direct alerts to the appropriate individuals. This person will have a key role in the Enrollment Services area and work collaboratively with offices within Academic and Student Affairs. *RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties for this position include: * Employ a case management approach in responding to student alerts, referring students to appropriate college resources and services, and documenting communication in Navigate * Assist the Coordinator in the delivery of workshops and programming during Orientations, Weeks of Welcome, and other types of student engagement. * Track and schedule appointments for new students with college advisors. * Provide proactive outreach to students for various enrollment campaigns as students progress through the enrollment pipeline. * Assist students with general enrollment services queries and services by answering phones, emails, and texts. * Collaborate with faculty and staff to facilitate connection with students and support their sense of belonging via class visits, student engagement events, and other student-oriented activities for New Students, English Language Learners, Early College Students, Students who are Undecided, and Students on Academic Probation. * Compile and share resources for students that increase their success in education * Assess students' academic and personal needs and barriers to determine appropriate proactive support services and interventions; refer to areas of campus as needed, such as Counseling, Care and Concern Team, Community Referrals, Tutoring, Learning Accommodations, Academic Advising, Academic Coaching, etc. * Assist with other institutional activities related to student enrollment and retention as needed. * Adhere to all federal, state, local and college regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines. * The Classification Specification is available at: https://www.mass.edu/shared/classificationspecs/specsmccc/Senior Staff Assistant - HB 1212.doc PLEASE NOTE, WE DO NOT REVIEW APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED THROUGH MASSCAREERS. PLEASE APPLY VIA THE LINK BELOW: https://necc.interviewexchange.com/jobofferdetails.jsp?JOBID=184777 Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Human Services or related field is required. * Needs three (3) years' experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include college registration, academic advisement, grant administration, budget development, event planning, administrative work in an academic environment, general office administration, or personal computer operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. * Ability to work well with students who are academically, internationally, ethnically, and culturally diverse * Candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills; adaptability and flexibility are essential. * Excellent public speaking, written communication, presentation and organizational skills. * Must be comfortable in utilizing technology and college-wide student information systems. * Must possess a solutions-based and result-driven attitude and focus for student success. * Must be positive and team orientated. * Ability and desire to work effectively within a fast-paced, rapidly growing, intense, and multi-functional office environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience in a community college environment * Bilingual (Spanish/English) * Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population BACKGROUND CHECK: Candidates will be required to pass a CORI and SORI check as a condition of employment. * Additional Information:* GRADE AND SALARY: *Anticipated salary is $56,985.00 - $62,162.00 (MCCC Pay Grade 3 with a Bachelor's degree) annually with complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system.
