Physical Requirements
Report to meetings at different locations both on campus and off campus; work with all levels of leadership and individuals from various backgrounds; provide superior customer service; provide effective consultation, project management and training; learn complex HRIS system/s; navigate complex situations that require a high level of professional judgment, confidentiality and emotional intelligence.
Shift
Primarily days with core hours from 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Additional hours required per workload demands.
Job Summary
The HR Business Partner Senior will work to ensure the Vice President for Research (VPR) domain receives strategic and human resource project support to assist in managing changes related to research, clinical and education missions. Support includes performance management consultation, HR program/process development and maintenance, protocol development, and reorganization assistance.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Partner with leaders to define, design, and launch change initiatives and provide insightful data to guide decision-making and propose proactive solutions.
  • Solve problems and get to the root cause of any issue, design and quickly implement solutions that may cut across units and functional areas.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key leaders within the VPR domain, with the goal of anticipating ways to advance business objectives through HR best practices and program/service delivery.
  • Provide project management leadership for multiple simultaneous initiatives from point of concept development through project completion.
  • Partner collaboratively with core HR units to proactively identify and communicate support required to meet project deliverables, removing barriers, and identifying creative solutions.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and performance management for other HR staff.
  • Lead HR process and service delivery improvement initiatives, with emphasis on documenting and communicating workflows, protocols, tools, and/or process changes to best support end-users.
  • Prioritize communication efforts between service line leaders and core HR areas to promote alignment and understanding of business and HR objectives/goals.
  • Provide VPR domain senior leadership with timely and appropriate information to assist in strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to overall HR goals and initiatives focused on meeting UK Strategic Plan goals.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The successful candidate must have significant HR professional and technical knowledge, project delivery expertise and the ability to create strong working relationships with senior leadership. Must have demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, follow-up, attention to detail, and planning and organizational skills as well as high emotional intelligence are all key to success in this position. The ability to successfully coach, influence, and persuade others as well as a high level of respect for confidentiality are all crucial attributes.

Preferred Education/Experience
Preferred degree in HR, business, management or related field and HR experience in an institution of higher education (college or university) with exposure to research practices.
