Job Title: Maintenance Planner

Job Description

  • Improve workforce productivity and work quality by eliminating potential delays and obstacles in advance. - Responsible for planning and scheduling all maintenance work performed in the plant. - Maintain liaison and coordination between the operations and maintenance organizations. - Act as the main contact and liaison person between the maintenance department and other plant departments. - Ensure that the plant receives prompt, efficient, and quality service from the maintenance department. - Plan future maintenance work to reduce potential delays and maximize maintenance workforce efficiency. - Knowledge of SQF, GMP’s, SOP’s, HACCP, and other food process sanitation requirements. - Report any/all food safety or food quality issues immediately to management or QA. - Maintain close contact with the Maintenance Manager to ensure maintenance activities occur with minimal disruption to production operations. - Review and screen each work order to ensure it is properly filled out and that the work requested is needed. - Maintain discipline by being self-motivated, having tolerance, and exacting standards. - Develop work plans based on work requests and field inspections, indicating the scope of work and identifying critical resources required. - Identify and obtain materials, entering material needs on the work order. - Maintain backlog files of work orders waiting for scheduling. - Verify the availability of parts, materials, and special tools required for execution before scheduling. - Follow up and review completed schedules and work orders. - Coordinate weekly scheduling of maintenance plans. - Develop standard work order plans for regularly recurring repair jobs. - Responsible for ordering parts. - Monitor the effectiveness of the PM program to minimize plant breakdowns. - Estimate jobs, showing the sequence of steps, the number of technicians, and required labor hours for each step. - Identify, collect, organize, and document work order job steps with operations resources, tools, and materials required to safely and effectively execute maintenance work, improving equipment availability and maintenance efficiency. - Own and maintain the CMMS system at the facility. - Facilitate maintenance productivity to ensure safe and quality work execution through clear job plan development. - Act as the primary point of contact between maintenance, engineering, and operations for identifying and correcting maintenance processes. - Identify and implement improvements in the planning process to reduce annual maintenance costs. - Delegate maintenance shift scheduling, work order backlog, and recommended planning for scheduled downtime work, including scheduling the availability of parts. - Schedule full days of work for each technician to maximize labor usage. - Maintain equipment records in CMMS. - Set up and maintain all predictive and preventative maintenance plans in CMMS to maximize equipment reliability. - Set up PM plans in CMMS for each piece of equipment, including frequency, mechanic tasks, parts needs, tools needed, and safety procedures. - Monitor and report if PM work is being completed to maintain equipment reliability and comply with regulations and audits. - Plan and schedule corrective work to maximize crew utilization and effectiveness. - Review work requests, collaborate with the requestor, and create work orders. - Plan the work, including estimated labor by craft (Mech, Elect), and special equipment or permits needed. - Identify, reserve, and purchase parts and services. - Prepare job plans and work order packets for mechanics. - Coordinate with production and sanitation to plan weekend work while minimizing scheduled overtime. - Requires hands-on maintenance experience.
