The Role

The Attorney position reports to the Assistant General Counsel of Federal and works collaboratively with the legal team that provides legal advice to Lumen’s: federal contracts organization, federal sales organization, federal procurement organization, industrial security organization, program management organization, federal billing organization and marketing organization. Location

This role has been designated as fully remote (US), but has preference for applicants in the Arlington and/or Herndon, VA areas.

The Main Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess a willingness to learn and understand internal business, operational, financial and technical matters to provide sound legal advice and risk analysis, while simultaneously assisting business clients in achieving their commercial objectives.

  • Conducts contract negotiations; drafting agreements and contract templates

  • Develops and implementing new contract structures to support new product/technology development efforts;

  • Clearly and concisely identifies and explaining the ramifications of contractual terms to the business decision makers and third-parties during contract negotiations

  • Provides ongoing management and maintenance of contracts, including providing contract summaries and interpretations to sales teams and executive management; and investigating, negotiating and resolving contract disputes.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of federal government contracting, federal compliance and federal claims matters to a broad scope of civilian and DoD sales segments.

  • Reviews and negotiates a variety of contracts including but not limited to Nondisclosure Agreements, Teaming Agreements, procurement master services agreements/ master reseller agreements.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.

  • 4+ years of relevant legal tenure.

  • Current license to practice law in state where attorney’s office will be located.

  • Excellent writing, drafting and verbal communications skills.

  • Organizational, time-management and prioritization capabilities; able to manage workload independently, efficiently and with minimal supervision.

  • Able to negotiate, prioritize and manage a large volume of contracts and associated issues.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Sound business and legal judgment.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$103,711 - $138,281 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.

$108,896 - $145,195 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.

$114,082 - $152,109 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
