Overview The Department of Psychology at Utah State University invites applications for an associate or full professor of Health Psychology to help us launch a new Health Psychology PhD specialization and undergraduate programming. Additional faculty lines are pre-allocated to assist in establishing this focus area in the department.

We are particularly interested in candidates with research programs focused on health disparities, applying a broad interpretation of this term. However, we welcome and encourage applications from all qualified candidates with research programs related to any aspect of health psychology.

This hire is part of a college-wide effort within the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services to address educational and health disparities in society. As such, this faculty member will work collaboratively with other newly hired faculty members within the college to address these disparities through collaborative research, teaching, and service.

The position is located on USU's main campus in Logan, Utah. This position is not eligible for remote work. This is a tenure-eligible position with a nine-month, academic year appointment anticipated to begin in August 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and disseminate cutting-edge research in Health Psychology.
  • Actively pursue external funding to support your research program (e.g., via federal agencies and private foundations).
  • Establish and lead a new Ph.D. specialization in Health Psychology.
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate classes within areas of expertise and specialization or department needs.
  • Mentor graduate students by advising, chairing dissertation committees, directing a research lab that involves graduate students, and supporting students in progressing toward graduation.
  • Participate in professional service and university, college, and department governance.

Qualifications Minimum and preferred qualifications for the Associate Professor level:

  • The position requires a PhD in psychology in any related specialty (e.g., Health Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Community Psychology) or in a related field.
  • Applicants should have a record of accomplishment that would qualify a candidate at the rank of Associate Professor at Utah State University.
  • Applicants should possess an outstanding record of research productivity that includes extramural research support and a record of strong peer-reviewed publications.
  • Applicants should pursue a research program related to any aspect of health psychology with national recognition. *... For full info follow application link.
