Google Child Safety Manager, Government Affairs and Public Policy in London, United Kingdom

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, industry, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.

  • 10 years of experience working in public affairs, political/policy communications, or political campaigns, or within government.

  • Experience shaping policy trends, industry investment, and civil society sentiment on children’s safety.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working within multiple national policy contexts.

  • Experience engaging on child safety legislation and regulation.

  • Experience delivering impact via complex cross-functional collaboration.

  • Experience working with child safety groups and domain expertise in child privacy or child safety.

  • Ability to write and present clearly to varied audiences.

In this role you will be a Europe Lead for children’s privacy and safety within Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) Privacy, Safety, and Security Center of Excellence. You will provide policy expertise on a range of issues related to child safety matters. You will understand the European political, regulatory, and business context and set them in a broader global perspective.

  • Shape Google’s approach to diverse public policy topics such as artificial intelligence and child safety, age assurance, child sexual abuse and exploitation, and content and privacy protections for minors.

  • Partner with cross-functional and local teammates to drive our holistic children’s privacy and safety strategy in Europe.

  • Monitor, develop strategy, and engage with stakeholders on legislative, regulatory, and policy initiatives.

  • Develop company-wide positions, collateral, and programming.

  • Represent Government Affairs and Public Policy team with policymakers, children’s groups, and regulators. Participate in stakeholder forums, working groups, and industry forums, including travel to a variety of UK and EU member states when needed.
