The Financial Reporting Accountant oversees the month-end accounting, quarter-end corporate reporting and year-end statutory reporting across the EMEA region within CBRE Investment Management. This individual is responsible for managing and controlling accounting operations for both corporate and statutory reporting. Coordinating with the Shared Service Centre (BSO) and oversight of the outsourced serviced providers operating within the EMEA region, reporting directly to the EMEA Financial Reporting Manager based in London. The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of both U.S. GAAP and local GAAP, a subject matter expert in financial, regulatory and tax reporting across the EMEA region and be flexible and dynamic.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, reporting processes and deliverables including liaising with outsourced accounting teams;

  • Lead the month end close process for relevant entities, reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and other relevant accounting matters in compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP;

  • Serve as the primary accounting contact and manage key stakeholders liaising with the Finance Operations, FP&A, Legal, Tax and Treasury;

  • Acts as key business partner liaising with the country CFO’s as required;

  • Oversight and coordination of Shared Service Centre (BSO) ensuring all routine monthly transactions related to Accounts Payables (AP), Accounts Receivables (AR) are processed timely and that all journal entries are approved timely to the General Ledger (GL) by BD3 with sufficient IPE documentation;

  • Perform monthly P&L cost reporting analysis and balance sheet flux variance analysis on material monthly activities to ensure completeness and accuracy, providing informed commentary to FP&A for any material variances;

  • Liaise with the Global finance team to resolve any financial accounting activities and questions on a timely basis, providing accounting data input to requests from Management and FP&A on a monthly and quarterly basis;

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, tax team, and third-party service providers to ensure all local statutory reporting is filed timely including quarterly VAT reporting and Statutory Financial Statements;

  • Proactively communicate with CBRE Group counterparties to ensure completeness of monthly costs accruals, preparing quarterly intercompany invoice recharges accurately and on a timely basis, providing all the necessary support to ensure all intercompany balances are settled prior to BD-5 with any material intercompany variances investigated to settle any outstanding amounts on a timely basis;

  • Review material balance sheet account reconciliations using Trintech Cadency, analyze transactions for accuracy and completeness ensuring any material reconciling items are appropriately resolved, ensure all billed and unbilled revenue balances are settled and billed timely, identifying any potential risk of bad debts at period end;

  • Support the annual external audit acting as the main point of contact with external auditors consider Management Letter Points and adjustments raised by Auditors and take necessary corrective action on a timely basis to ensure alignment between financial statements and the underlying general ledger;

  • Partner with the technology division on system maintenance, implementation, upgrades, automation and customization to encourage the adoption of technology-based solutions and enhancements;

  • Manage key CBRE-wide projects, such as intercompany policy enhancements, maintaining invoice approval workflow and aligning control processes with the global balance sheet program;

  • Actively communicate with counterparties, reviewing monthly revenue accruals, explaining monthly commentary of revenue for variance to budget and preparing accounting memos for any material transactions.

Key skills and experience

  • Qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience

  • Comfortable delegating tasks effectively

  • Strong technical experience with US GAAP and local GAAP

  • Subject matter expert in financial, regulatory and tax reporting

  • Positive mindset with a drive to continually improve and challenge existing processes

  • Excellent excel skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Self-starter, able to resolve issues with own initiative

  • Keen and positive attitude and team player

  • Experience with PeopleSoft, OneStream and Trintech Cadency is desirable.
