Description

We are in search of a Controller to join our client in West Los Angeles, California. This role is centered around the real estate investment industry, specifically focusing on property management and family office operations. The Controller will have an array of responsibilities, from overseeing financial performance to ensuring adherence to management and partnership agreements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial performance of the property management company

• Identify corporate policies, best practices, and procedural issues to streamline operations

• Ensure adherence to management agreements and partnership agreements as applicable

• Review and approve monthly reports for all properties and entities

• Maintain strict adherence to all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting schedules

• Review all family office invoices for proper approval prior to making payments

• Oversee all family office cash receipts and their timely and correct allocation

• Monitor property and family office level cash flow and ensure availability of funds to meet property needs

• Ensure all bank reconciliations are done timely and correctly

Requirements

• Proven experience in the role of Controller or similar position

• Proficiency in AppFolio software

• Comprehensive knowledge of Accounting Functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Familiarity with Budget Processes and Month End Close

• Experience in Real Estate Property Management and Property Management Accounting

• Knowledge of Real Estate - Residential sector

• Previous experience with Family Office and Business Management

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field

• Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus.
