UCLA Health Staff Research Associate I - Ophthalmology in Los Angeles, California
Description
Under the direction of the PI, the incumbent is responsible for the cellular and molecular biology aspects of the research projects. The position involves performing cellular and molecular techniques to support translational research. The incumbent will also perform administrative tasks related to the project, as well as lab maintenance.
Qualifications
Required
Knowledge of molecular biology techniques.
Experience with mammalian tissue culture (preferably human)
Ability to work in a collaborative environment
Skills in isolating and purifying high quality DNA and RNA
Ability to use molecular biology software
Ability to establish and maintain records and supply stocks
Skill in maintaining the lab and equipment in working condition
Demonstrated experience and skills in using the following: Pipettes, Centrifuges,
Balances, Incubators, Thermal cyclers, Dry blocs, Shakers, Autoclaves, Water
baths, Liquid nitrogen tanks, DNA synthesizer, and PH meter.
Bachelor's degree in life science (not including psychology).
Proficient in word, excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom programs
Minimum of one-year experience working in a biomedical research laboratory
Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
Preferred
Skill in subcloning of cell lines
Ability and experience to perform cryosectioning and immunohistochemistry
Knowledge of mammalian cell culture, including thawing cells, culturing cells
and freezing cells
Ability to perform protein analysis by gel electrophoresis and Western Blots
Ability to work with rodents and rabbits, assist with animal experiments
Experience working in GMP conditions
