As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.
Sierra Space is seeking a Systems Engineer II - Ground Systems to join our expanding Defense organization. The Systems Engineer II - Ground Systems will join our Ground Product Capability Center (Ground PCC) as it develops requirements, ground architectures, and concepts of operation for ground solutions across our Sierra Space Defense programs. The successful candidate will work within the Ground PCC team to develop, design, implement and integrate terrestrial command and control capabilities for our satellite progra
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in a related field of study. Experience in planning and supporting DoD ground network infrastructure deployment. Ability to lead ground product developments and projects from design to build- including hardware, software, and network aspects. Ability to communicate and collaborate with IT/Cyber teammates. Ability to assist in ground capability and capacity augmentation and network optimization deployments in support of DoD customers and current/future programs Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such as DOORS, Cameo EA, MATLAB Knowledge of industry standard system design principles, to include, but not limited to requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Experience or certification in INCOSE standards Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
