Overall Objectives:
To lead and grow the oligonucleotide manufacturing operations for Eurofins Genomic business in the US with full P&L responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Oversees, directs, coordinates and prioritizes the daily activities of the oligonucleotide production and the assigned staff.
Hire, motivate, develop and retain excellent staff and manager under duty and make sure the essential training schedule is followed.
Works very closely with the Sales and Marketing team to create business strategies, introduction of new products to align with the customer and market needs.
Define and agree goals and milestones with the managers and staff and ensure goals are defined and communicated to their respective teams. Set up Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across all areas of operations to monitor progress. Follow up as appropriate and become hands on if required to ensure achievement of goals.
Support the development, implementation and optimal use of equipment and systems and ensure its efficient usage at all levels of manufacturing to improve productivity and profitability.
Work closely with R&D, Maintenance and IT departments for implementing new equipment, new manufacturing processes and new products.
Design and lead automation projects to streamline and improve the manufacturing process and make good use of IT to achieve high efficiency.
Implement process controls, validations and metrics for the production equipment to monitor the stability of the manufacturing processes. Works closely with Quality department to ensure stability of process and product quality under proper documentation. Utilizes data analysis and statistical methods to improve product and process quality.
Assumes budgetary and profitability responsibility of the oligonucleotide manufacturing laboratory including direct and indirect cost management. Works on identifying continuous improvement opportunities within production, material costs to improve operating margins.
Analyse problems, identify solutions, and implement recommendations as well as manage the corrective actions.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or General Engineering, Masters or PhD in Chemistry preferred
Experience:
A minimum of seven to nine years’ experience in a manufacturing operations leadership position is required. Familiarity with LEAN and Six Sigma manufacturing principles preferred. MBA would be a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A strong leader with excellent interpersonal skills Proven track record of implementing automation and process improvement in a production or manufacturing environment, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.
