University of Louisville Faculty Development Specialist IV in Louisville, Kentucky

Grade 7 (Salaried)Position Description:The Faculty Development Specialist IV at the University of Louisville’s Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning plays a crucial role in advancing teaching effectiveness and student success through faculty development initiatives. This position supports the planning, design, and implementation of professional development programs that address the needs of faculty in both digital and in-person learning environments.The Faculty Development Specialist is responsible for creating, delivering, and evaluating a range of development opportunities, including workshops, conferences, foundational courses, and faculty learning communities, all grounded in evidence-based research and aligned with institutional goals. This role involves consulting with instructors across disciplines and ranks to enhance instructional practices in online, in-person, and blended courses, making thoughtful recommendations to strengthen course content and delivery. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the latest research and best practices in pedagogy and course design, possess strong proficiency in digital tools for teaching, and demonstrate an ability to guide faculty in creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Design, deliver, and evaluate faculty development programs and events, including workshops, courses, conferences, and faculty learning communities, with a focus on innovative, evidence-based teaching practices that enhance learning across all modalities.Provide personalized instructional consultations to faculty, advising on effective pedagogical strategies, active learning techniques, and the integration of educational technologies to support student engagement and success.Develop and facilitate targeted programs that prepare faculty to effectively teach in face-to-face, online, and blended learning environments.Stay informed on current trends and best practices in faculty development, digital learning, and educational technology, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of faculty development resources and offerings.Preferred Qualifications:Ph.D. or Ed.D.Demonstrated experience in educational development, particularly in designing and delivering faculty development programs, supporting instructional best practices, or fostering teaching approaches that enhance a supportive learning environment.Teaching experience in higher education environments using various delivery modes, including blended and online courses, and the use of educational technologies to enhance one’s teaching.Proficient in use of Microsoft Word and ExcelProficient in project managementExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent facilitation skillsWork Hours and LocationThis is a full-time position with a 37.5hr regular workweek. The work location for this position is at the Belknap Campus.
