Job Description
BAE Systems is hiring a Strategic Operations Manager to support our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business in Louisville, Ky. In this role, you will own the coordination and execution of the daily operations for our Machining and Barrel manufacturing operations. The role will manage three production value stream teams across the machining product lines with direct and indirect supervision of employees, across all operating shifts and assigned supporting functions. You will drive the long-range strategic planning process for their assigned operations by overseeing and managing aspects of engineering, manufacturing, production control, and supply chain management. Defines goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems in conjunction with managers of engineering, manufacturing, program management, and supply chain. Develops operations-related plans, budgets, policies, and procedures. Maintains Safety, Health, Environmental compliance relating to the production facility and their assigned area.
Responsibilities:
Manage a cross-functional team across three-production value stream product lines, with direct and indirect supervision of employees, across all operating shifts and assigned supporting functions.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the production value streams, including any coordination of changes with scheduling, resource allocation, equipment, and workflow management.
Identify and lead activities that optimize production processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs while maintaining quality standards and meeting production delivery requirements.
Accountable for SQDCP performance and reporting of company KPI targets for their production value stream along with identifying areas for improvement with corrective actions.
Participate in the compilation of labor forecasts for both Estimates to Completion (ETC) and Estimates at Completion (EACs) for the support and touch employees within their defined area.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including PMO, engineering, quality control, and supply chain, to ensure seamless coordination and execution of production plans.
Lead, mentor, and create a One Team mindset for an entire value stream team of supervisors, production workers, and cross-functional teams providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
Manage inventory levels and production schedules to meet customer demands and minimize lead times.
Work with their Value Stream Leader to develop strategies and prioritize, communicate, and manage operational priorities and initiatives for the year.
Support the implementation of new systems, procedures, and work instructions as well as special projects supporting manufacturing and customer service objectives.
Ensure compliance with all company and OSHA regulated safety, environmental, and ethical requirements/standards.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
US Citizen with DoD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain
Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or other related discipline and 10 years of experience or equivalent experience
Experience in Manufacturing/Production Leadership, including production control, manufacturing engineering, operations excellence, and/or manufacturing quality
Experience in People Management/Leadership, including leading daily operations in a value stream managing both direct and indirect cross-functional teams
Ability to manage large, high complexity, low volume Manufacturing, including machining, assembly, welding, etc.
Experience in Oracle or similar ERP systems
Ability to lead in a cross-functional environment with complex issues and rapidly changing priorities and assignments
Ability to rapidly review, analyze, and implement complex processes
Ability to isolate and resolve complex problems
Ability to identify, adjust, and correct processes and systems within a manufacturing ERP system
Ability to identify and drive process improvements using lean manufacturing and analytical/data driven methods in a cross-functional, matrix driven environment
Proven track record of strong collaboration and team building skills in creating a one team environment
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Graduate Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing related discipline
Experience in Defense (DoD)/Government Contracting environments
Experience in Managing a Union environment
Experience with the deployment and implementation of Lean Manufacturing concepts
Experience in Production Planning and Control within Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
Experience in Earned Value management (EVM) and Performance Management through KPIs and Metrics
Experience in Manufacturing and Quality Engineering practices and instructions
Strong knowledge of product launch processes with focus on Design for Manufacturing concepts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to rapidly review and resolve complex technical problems
Ability to effectively interface with customers to identify needs and deliver proposed solutions
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $133333 - $226667
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
