Summary

Operates and services the heavier types of equipment; does maintenance workon equipment.

Essential Functions
  • Operate backhoes, rollers, front-end loaders, street sweepers, mowers, hydraulic pumps, jackhammers, and other equipment of comparable size and complexity;
  • Drive dump trucks, crew trucks, and spreader trucks.
  • Maintain and service equipment, machines, trucks, and water and sewer valves.
  • Operate mechanical attachments and equipment on vehicles.
  • Operate pickups and other light equipment when assigned.
  • Construct new equipment and buildings, and install equipment.
  • Perform related duties as directed.
Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional one to three years experience in the operation of motorized construction equipment; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

Physical Exam Required Commercial Drivers License Required

Water

(

Pipeline Maintenance)-Possession of a Texas Class A Commercial Drivers license. Possession of, or ability to obtain within two years at least a "C" water and/or wastewater certificate issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Water

(

Metering and Customer Service)-Possession of a Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License with trailer endorsement on or before hire date. A comparable out-of-state Class A Commercial Driver's license with trailerendorsement will be accepted during the application/selection process. Ability to obtain a Class C Water Distribution State Regulatory Water Certificate within two years of hire.

Park Maintenance-Possession of a Texas Class A Commercial Driver's license.

Solid Waste- Class A or B CDL.Must be able to work 6 days a week and be available from 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.Ability to lift in excess of fifty pounds frequently.Able to work in adverse weather conditions.

Traffic Operations-Ability to utilize the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Ability to obtain a Traffic Work Zone Certification. Ability to work 10 hour days, after hours and on call rotation. Prefer traffic control experience.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Operation and maintenance of motorized equipment typically used in construction or maintenance activities.
