Custom Pipe And Fabrication Welder I in Lubbock, Texas

Role and Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision, can set up a welding machine to operate at optimal levels. Welding Capabilities of .045 and 1/16 Flux Core wire to produced product in accordance with quality specifications and production schedules, while performing necessary dimensional quality checks; and perform related duties as required.

  • Ensure personal safety and that of team members in the area; immediately reporting unsafe conditions to a leader; take action to prevent accidents and injuries; reporting malfunctions of equipment and deficiencies in process.
  • With care, load items to be welded onto a turntable and properly secure for the welding process.
  • Perform inspections at frequency, utilizing measurement tools, to ensure 100% quality of finished parts.
  • Request assistance of the maintenance services group whenever a non-conforming function or status of a machine is observed.
  • Have the ability and aptitude to make minor mechanical adjustments as needed.
  • Learn and know Custom Pipe policies and procedures, conducting oneself in a positive and professional manner, promoting team unity and continuity.
  • Be willing to cross-train in other capacities within the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required. Adequate work experience may be substituted in lieu of diploma or GED.
  • Read, write, add, subtract, multiply, divide, and use direct-reading and measuring devices.
  • Good manual dexterity, vision, hearing, eye-hand coordination and be physically capable of performing heavy work.
  • Ability to learn and use MRP / ERP software for work order entry. Ability to learn/use data acquisition software for production reporting.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in work area, responsible for keeping work area clean and organized.
  • Enforce good health, safety, and environmental practices. Be aware of safety rules and environmental regulations and put them into practice in the plant.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Must be dependable, hardworking and an effective communicator.
  • Prior welding experience highly desired.

  • All candidates are subject to background checks and drug testing.
