PARKS and RECREATION- Electrician I
DESCRIPTION
Performs and installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains electrical systems, components, equipment and facilities for the city's parks and facilities. Plays a crucial role in supporting the overall functionality and safety of electrical infrastructure, contributing to the enhancement of community recreational spaces.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; completion of an electrician apprenticeship program required.
- Journeyman Electrician license preferred.
- Proven experience as an electrician, with at least 3-5 years in a utility-related role.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends for emergency repairs or special events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and utility infrastructure.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and electrical codes and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in parks, recreational facilities, and utility infrastructure.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical equipment, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
- Work with maintenance teams to ensure proper functioning of electrical systems.
- Install and maintain outdoor lighting, electrical panels, and utility-related components.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls for electrical repairs and perform troubleshooting.
- Adhere to electrical codes, safety guidelines, and departmental policies in all work activities.
- Work with contractors on major electrical projects or installations.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical work, including maintenance logs and repair history.
- Ensure electrical requirements are met at city and partner events.
- Implement energy-efficient practices and contribute to sustainability initiatives within parks.
- Other duties as assigned.

$21.18 per hour
