Description

We have a client that is a Wisconsin based Managed Services Provider (MSP) headquartered in Madison, WI. They specialize in providing tailored IT solutions to businesses in diverse industries. They are a tight-knit group looking for a talented Desktop Support Engineer/Junior Server Administrator to join and grow their career in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

Role Overview:

As a Desktop Support Engineer/Junior Server Administrator, you will be at the forefront of delivering exceptional IT support services to our diverse client base. Your role includes managing Level 1/2 support, handling escalations, and gradually working on higher-level (Level 2-3) tasks. This is a contract position with the potential to convert to a permanent role.

Typical Day:

  • Provide front-line end-user support and troubleshooting, including break/fix issues, software support, and network connectivity concerns.

  • Perform administrative tasks such as user provisioning, adding/deleting accounts, maintaining Active Directory, and managing Office 365 environments.

  • Assist with complex troubleshooting and escalation, serving as the last point of contact for resolution.

  • Support Windows Operating Systems (2022 and older versions) and virtual environments (VMware).

  • Contribute to the configuration, support, and maintenance of IT systems, including spinning up virtual machines in our data center.

  • Collaborate with team members within our small MSP to ensure seamless and proactive client support.

    Requirements

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications:

  • Windows Operating Systems (2022 and older versions): Basic knowledge and support experience required.

  • Office 365 and Active Directory: Proficient in managing users, permissions, and common tasks within these platforms.

  • Desktop Support Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in Level 1-3 support roles with strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Networking Knowledge: Ability to identify and resolve connectivity issues. Familiarity with tools like Citrix is a plus.

  • VMware Knowledge: Comfortable spinning up virtual machines and configuring environments.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to handle escalated tickets and develop solutions to complex challenges.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and team members.

  • A team player with a hands-on, solution-oriented approach to IT issues.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, or VMware) are a bonus but not required.
