Schedule: This is a full-time AM phlebotomist position working 8-hour shifts from 4:00am – 12:30pm. This is a hybrid role working between our hospital and clinic. This position requires every other weekend and holiday commitment. Weekends and holiday shifts include differential pay.

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable phlebotomist to join our team, providing support within the Central Madison Region. This role supports the laboratories at St. Mary’s Hospital and Dean South Madison Campus on Fish Hatchery Road which are just 1 mile apart. This role requires flexibility and the ability to float between the two locations, offering high-quality patient care by performing blood draws and specimen collection in both an inpatient and outpatient setting.

Qualified candidates will have experience in phlebotomy. Highly qualified candidates will have experience in phlebotomy in a hospital setting.

Job Summary:

Under specific direction, collects and prepares blood specimens and other samples for laboratory testing. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record keeping duties.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary technique and processes the samples according to laboratory guidelines.

• Delivers samples to the laboratory in established time frames.

• May perform waived testing.

• May perform a variety of administrative duties to support the department.

• Identifies patients using two identifiers.

• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

• Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

• Rare climbing.
