American Family Insurance - Corporate Senior Benefit Specialist in Madison, Wisconsin

Designs, develops and implements policies and procedures. Measures and analyzes financial effectiveness of plans and programs; develops funding and expense projections. Works closely with team, vendors and internal resources to ensure efficient and compliant administration of benefit plans, programs and policies. Leads benefits related projects and manages plan vendors. Researches and responds to employee questions, concerns and grievances. Prepares and presents communication and training programs to explain and educate managers and employees in the use and application of the company's benefit programs. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Benefits.

Position Compensation Range:

$86,000.00 - $142,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • You will conduct and evaluate research to develop market insights to recommend opportunities for and adjustments to the competitive positions of the company's benefit offerings.

  • You will identify, evaluates and prioritizes emerging trends that may provide opportunities to drive new benefit offerings for the organization.

  • Communicates potential benefits project opportunities to leadership for further review and development.

  • Aggregates and reviews project plans to ensure collaboration, management and coordination, aiding leadership in prioritizing deliverables and reviewing for alignment against department and division strategies.

  • Works with plan administrators to ensure benefits are administered correctly and are well communicated to employees.

  • Measures and analyzes financial effectiveness of plans and programs, develops funding and expense projections.

  • Monitors plan performance and adherence to plan provisions and applicable laws. Ensures plan documents are updated.

  • Manages relationships with service providers who provide outsourced health insurance, time off and retirement plan administration.

  • Provides oversight and direction for vendor tracking and roll up reporting including budgeting oversight.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.

  • Demonstrated experience consulting management on business performance measures.

  • Demonstrated experience counseling, consulting, negotiating to guide strategic business decisions across all levels of management.

  • Demonstrated experience managing company benefit plan offerings, including health and welfare, retirement, paid time off and leave programs.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of benefit-related government rules and regulations and governance and their impact on the different elements of benefits.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of the financial aspects of benefits, such as pension liabilities, medical plan costing and 401K plans.

Preferred Qualifications for the Ideal Candidate:

  • Workday Experience: Proficiency in using Workday for benefits administration.

  • Administering Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation Experience: In-depth knowledge of non-qualified deferred compensation plans

  • Proven experience in leading and managing Benefits projects from inception to completion.

  • Experience in planning and executing the yearly Annual Enrollment Benefit processes.
