JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The University of Wisconsin-Madison is home to one of the first schools of journalism and mass communication in the United States. The School, as a department within the College of Letters and Science, is part of one of the nation\'s finest public universities and enjoys intellectual resources, teaching and research laboratories, and various sources of research support. Our undergraduates choose a study area of emphasis - strategic communication/public relations, journalism, or both. More than half of our students are strategic communications students; upon graduation, students successfully find employment in variety of communication fields across a wide range of settings - agency, corporate, government, higher education, etc. Our strategic communication and journalism alumni are actively involved in \'giving back\' to our program in a number of ways, including guest speaking in classes, mentoring, networking, and job placement. The School of Journalism and Mass Communication seeks an energetic, collaborative individual to join our team of advisors overseeing our undergraduate majors and non-major certificate candidates (Sports Communications and Digital Media Analytics). The undergraduate academic advisor assists students to develop a coherent program of study and select courses appropriate to their personal and professional goals, consistent with the school\'s philosophy of undergraduate education. Our undergraduate major offers students an unparalleled blend of skills training, theoretical learning and real-world practice. The program prepares them for jobs in reporting and public relations, advertising, marketing, political and health communication, and digital and social media, as well as professional positions in sports communication, magazine publishing, video production and multimedia design, among others. In addition to home departments, advisors in L&S are a part of an active advising community and interdependent system. During the academic year, L&S advisors meet monthly as a consortium for information sharing and ongoing training.
