Our operations help everything to come together at Amazon. As the Site Leader/Senior Operations Manager in a fast-paced and challenging environment, you’ll be the person who knows your area of the business inside out. You’ll own the operational metrics and set the strategy for your area of the business to deliver for our customers and ultimately grow our operations. You’ll also develop a large team and coach and mentor team leaders.

Key job responsibilities

Monitor operational metrics and business performance

Contribute to planning the operational budget, considering everything from financial and labour planning

Protect high standards of operational Health and Safety

Strategic planning for the next three, six and twelve months, with a particular focus on peak-season planning

Be accountable for operational leadership by measuring performance, offering feedback, and providing development support

A day in the life

You’ll be based at one of our operational sites/You’ll split your time across a number of our operational sites. Spending lots of time on site will help you develop your team and collaborate on operational planning. This role has two sides. You’ll manage and motivate a team of leaders. At the same time, you’ll focus on long-term objectives. This includes creating contingency plans to keep operations running and mitigate against disruptions and driving initiatives that boost quality, safety and productivity. You’ll be a source of accountability and a business-wide champion of best practice.

About the team

Our Amazon Grocery Logistics (AGL) team breathes life into our newest ideas and incubates them until they grow into sophisticated businesses. We’ve got the energy of an exciting start-up, as our team works on Amazon’s next big project, under the umbrella of one of the world’s biggest companies.

We work behind the scenes to support new areas of the business - like Amazon Fresh stores and our online grocery service. There are lots of opportunities for every skill set, from operations to supply chain to data management.

GSF’s goal is to help develop new capabilities within Amazon on behalf of our customers. This entrepreneurial team has a deep understanding of the needs of our customers, employees and partners and helps to develop Amazon businesses of all sizes.

We grow new opportunities that will help Amazon diversify even more, taking them from concepts to mature operations that operate as standalone businesses. This dynamic environment supports our people’s growth and development.

Basic Qualifications

A degree

Relevant experience in manufacturing, production, distribution logistics environments, retail, or grocery in a management role

Relevant experience of working within a complex stakeholder structure

Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and upper intermediate proficiency in the local language

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor’s, advanced or master’s degree in engineering, supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing

Experience in managing third-party relationships

Experience of applying Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies
