Description

We are seeking a Controller to join our team in Manchester, New Hampshire. Our client is looking for someone with experience in non-profit, grant, or cost allocation & may consider someone looking to move up from a Senior Accountant position with supervisory experience or an Accounting Manager.

· Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with the appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

· Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs and program budgets and actual expenditures.

· Coordinate all audit activity.

· Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership and/or CFO abreast of financial status

· Assist leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process.

· Administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain and correct variances as appropriate.

· Support the CFO in engaging the board’s audit and finance committee around issues and trends in financial operations.

· Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate and foundation grants.

· Manage organizational cash flow forecasting

· Continuously collaborate with program leaders to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.

· Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with the policies and investment guidelines.

· Assist CFO with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.

Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position.

• Proficiency in Accounting Functions.

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Demonstrated knowledge of Auditing procedures.

• Familiarity with Budget Processes and financial forecasting.

• Experience in Grant Accounting and Grant Management.

• Ability to perform Month End Close tasks and reconcile financial discrepancies.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a team.

• Must have a keen attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and make decisions under minimal supervision.

• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.

• Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide a team.
