R&D Mechanical Engineer III - Interventional Cardiology Maple Grove, MN The Mechanical R&D Engineer III is an important role in our Imaging business within the Interventional Cardiology division. Projects will include a mix of sustaining engineering along with product improvements, test method development and product innovation for next generation devices. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC's mission. Your responsibilities include: * Creating a strong team culture around high expectations & high performance. * Facilitating crisp decision making around key technical issues. * Leading technology integration & knowledge transfer within domain of responsibility. * Providing clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates. * Leveraging internal/external partners as necessary to achieve project objectives. * Leading the design & execution of structured experimental plans to drive data-based decisions. * Understanding clinical use cases and user interface requirements to drive design decisions. * Developing novel improvements to products or processes resulting in expansion of BSC's Intellectual Property portfolio in key strategic areas. * Successfully completing engineering work in one or more of the following: technology development, product design and development, test method development, specification development, bench & preclinical studies. * Translating customer needs into product requirements and design specifications. * Working cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success. * Training and/or provide work direction to technicians and other engineers. * Designing, developing, debugging, modifying, and testing mechanical assemblies and systems by using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies. * Documenting mechanical development by writing documents, reports, memos, change requests. Methods used are determined by approved procedures and standards. * Tracking mechanical development effort by creating and maintaining records in the approved tracking management tool. * Solving engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions. * Analyzing, evaluating, and verifying requirements, component performance, and systems by using engineering practices. * Investigating, researching, and selecting mechanical components, tools, equipment, and best practices. * In all actions, demonstrating a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to all documented quality processes and procedures. Required Qualifications: BS in Mechanical, Biomedical, Biomechanical, Electromechanical, or Chemical Engineering. 3 years of engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 2 years with Master's Degree. Strong mechanical engineering and problem-solving skills Medical device experience Solid lab experience with debugging, fixture development, and test equipment. Expertise in design simulation tools, experimental design and analysis techniques. Ability to provide technical leadership as it relates to product design and leadership. Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources. Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Experience interacting with physicians and customers on pr duct design Preferred Qualifications Experience in the PTCA or Intravascular Ultrasound business. Catheter design and process experience.
