Kelly Services Laboratory Technician in Marietta, Georgia

Kelly Services is actively recruiting for a Lab Technician (3rd Shift - 9:30 pm – 6am Sunday night through Thursday night) for a Long Term Contract opportunity in Marietta, GA.

This opportunity is in the Marietta Systems House, one of 13 operations units in the Global Systems House business. This plant exists to produce polyol and isocyanate blends and pre-polymers for our customer base in North America. The plant is semi-automated and requires the ability to interact with a process control system and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The successful candidate in this position would be an active participant in the day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Test products safely and accurately according to the laboratory procedures.

  • Learn, follow and update/improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

  • Participate on various plant teams (Safety, LORC, etc.)

  • Multi-task and work as part of a team to complete daily activities.

  • Interfacing with SAP by downloading product specifications, assigning/associating family inspection plans and inspection profiles to client products.

  • Create and modify Certificate of Analysis profiles for client products. This includes selecting the proper profile, changing features of the plan (if required), associating the production notes and verifying the QC documentation meets client quality requirements.

  • Maintain the client production records. This includes maintaining QC database production and quality control parameters, logging the data, filing and disposing of the production records in accordance with client policies. Also required is editing the WebEDMS directory to include the Production Records (ODMS requirement).

  • Investigate incoming raw material CoA conflicts and resolve by QM or GPDIS updates.

  • In addition to being capable of performing standard laboratory testing, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining global and local databases.

Required Qualifications:

  • Titration experience or Bachelor's in Chemistry

  • Ability to cover overtime as needed.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements:

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting

  • Stand 50% of the time.

  • Walk for extended periods of time

  • Work in tight and closed in spaces.

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent and one of the following is required:

  • 3 or more years of laboratory experience.

  • Associates degree or higher in Chemistry or related field. Client will consider those with 4 or more years of relevant Military experience

Skills and Abilities:

Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and Statistical Process Control Techniques.

  • Working knowledge of SAP.

  • Strong Interpersonal, Facilitative, and Organizational skills.

  • Effectively interacts with multiple functions and diverse individuals to achieve goals.

  • Demonstrates excellent decision making skills, ability to prioritize appropriately.

  • Effectively manages multiple competing priorities.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to communicate with a very diverse population which is spread across the site.

  • Strong reading comprehension and listening skills.

  • Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.

  • Able to work with independently with minimal supervision with in an empowered team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry or related field.

  • 2 or more years of working experience with laboratory equipment, calibration, and method development for auto-titrators, UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, GC and HPLC.

  • Knowledge of LIMS.
