In-depth understanding of welding techniques and practices is crucial, including successful completion of mandatory BSI weld testing (ASME). While a technical or professional certification (AWS) is preferred, it is not mandatory. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical documents, and drawings is essential. Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective gear like safety glasses, face shield, boots, and gloves is a must. Exceptional attention to detail and a solid mechanical aptitude are necessary skills. Physical requirements include the ability to walk, bend, stoop, lift objects up to 50 lbs, and work in various positions. The candidate should be able to stand and work for extended periods (8-10 hours) and be capable of lifting, twisting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, sitting, and occasionally climbing.
