The Central Ordering Material Planner/Buyer is responsible for overseeing a complex part supply chain for North American Plant Domestic Supply Part Supply (DSPS) part ordering. You will ensure day-to-day DSPS order requirements are met, track open orders to closure, plan future orders with sufficient lead time, and ensure late orders are delivered and effectively counter-measured. The role involves accurate maintenance of process-related systems for suppliers and parts, managing material releases, and maintaining sufficient inventory levels to support warehouse packing operations and plant production.
Responsibilities
Ensure day-to-day DSPS order requirements are met.
Track open orders to closure and plan future orders with sufficient lead time.
Effectively counter-measure late orders.
Maintain process-related systems for assigned suppliers and parts.
Manage material releases, service parts, and inventory levels.
Establish and maintain communication networks with the supply base to promote positive delivery performance relationships.
Identify gaps and develop countermeasures to mitigate risks of critical issues.
Collaborate with internal departments and project leaders to support Mass Production projects and meet KPI targets.
Manage New Model and Mass Production design change activities.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement countermeasures through Gemba activities.
Strive for continuous improvement through the Plan Do Check Action (PDCA) cycle.
Develop self, colleagues, and team through training, mentoring, and sharing of experiences.
Support company vision and Business Plan activity by leading/supporting project initiatives within the core job function.
Essential Skills
Purchasing and buying experience
Procurement and order parts experience
Experience in purchasing materials, RFP, RFQ
Logistics, inventory management, and inventory control
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent related experience
Knowledge of basic inventory management and manufacturing workflow
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and work with limited direction
Ability to troubleshoot complex problems in a team-based work environment
Consistently identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Collect data and apply business knowledge to solve a range of problems
Effectively lead project themes and sell ideas to secure buy-in
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous component purchasing experience is a plus
Work Environment
Remote work is available 20-40% of the time after a minimum of 6 months of training. On-site work is required 60-80% of the time. The standard hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexible start and end times. Expect 5-10 hours of overtime per week, which is compensated at 1.5 times the regular pay rate. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00
